Fantastic Fireworks is committed to promoting sustainability. Concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda is integral to our professional activities.
We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities.
Our Sustainability Policy is based upon the following principles:
- · To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- · To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions.
- · To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it. · To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices.
- · To continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.
Our sustainability policy will focus specifically on the following:
Fireworks are a known producer of CO2 and as a responsible company we are continually looks at ways of reducing these emissions. In a wider context we would like to point out that a typical Bonfire Night display emits no more CO2 than a petrol car travelling 80 miles. While we wholeheartedly support efforts to reduce CO2 emissions on a broader front such as the switch to electric vehicles we believe that it would be counter-productive to curb such a relatively low emission entertainment like fireworks, which bring so much entertainment and raise so much money for charities.
Staging firework displays across the UK inevitably involves covering many miles in a year. In our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint we intend to focus our display range to no more than 100 miles of our bases in the north and south of the country. Where possible we will always limit our crews to one vehicle.
Noise is an increasingly sensitive issue and Fantastic Fireworks is paying particular attention to calls to curb the environmental impact of its displays. We are addressing this by developing and promoting quieter displays, This will be achieved by removing many of the high noise effects like large calibre shells whose noise travels much further than smaller but visually attractive effects.
Fantastic Fireworks is working hard with its Chinese manufacturers to eliminate plastic from fireworks. Many items are now plastic free and we are working towards 100% biodegradable fireworks by 2025.
Fantastic Fireworks is committed to becoming a zero waste company by the end of 2020. The byproducts of our fireworks displays, mainly paper and cardboard, are already recycled and we are examining ways to become 100% waste efficient by the end of the year.
